OUR HISTORY

Ignis Photonyx’s history dates to 1992, where the Danish cable company NKT collaborated with the Technical University of Denmark in developing PLC technology (planar light circuit). In 1997 Ionas A/S was established to commercially exploit the new developed technology, and in 2000 the manufacturing facility was established at the current site at Birkerød, Denmark. In 2005, Norwegian Ignis ASA acquired the company from NKT and renamed it Ignis Photonyx A/S.

Since establishing the manufacturing site at Birkerød, a variety of optical chip components have been developed and supplied to customers producing modules for fibre optic communication systems.

From 2011 to 2013 Ignis Photonyx A/S was owned by Californian Finisar. Being the largest customer, Accelink Technology Co. Ltd. took over the company in 2013, and renamed it Accelink Denmark.

In 2025 Accelink Denmark was renamed Ignis Photonyx and besides supplying optical chip components to the parent company in China, Ignis Photonyx also develops new products and solutions for customers such as Cisco, Huawei, Nokia, Google and others in close partnership with Accelink Technology Co. Ltd.
